Description:
Abstract:
The importance of Probability and Statistics in solving issues in a variety of scientific domains has been steadily rising in recent decades. As a result, in addition to the Mathematics and Statistics departments, several university departments now teach Probability and Statistics. The major objective of this book is to give students, learning these topics for the first time, all the theoretical grounding they need to select and use the right methodology to solve problems in their field of study. This book can be used as an introduction text in courses on Probability, Statistics, or Probability-Statistics in the aforementioned context. In particular, the material from Chapters 1-7, with full emphasis on proofs and the theoretical background, is considered sufficient for the teaching of an introductory course in Probability, while the material from Chapters 8-13, with full emphasis on theoretical results, is considered sufficient for the teaching of an introductory course in Statistics. Finally, it is advised to cover the topics from Chapters 1-6 and 8-13 without focus on the mathematical proofs when teaching an introductory Probability and Statistics course or while teaching the course in departments other than Mathematics and Statistics.
