Abstract:
This laboratory guide is intended for undergraduate and postgraduate students who are studying subjects related to field crops as well for anyone interested in gaining relevant experience in the study of cereal plant and grain morphology. The analysis of the growth stages of each plant aids in identifying critical stages of the plant's biological cycle and is directly related to the ecological requirements of each species and good agricultural practice. The guide is divided into twelve chapters. Winter cereals include wheat, barley, oats, rye, and triticale. Of the spring grains, maze, rice, sorghum, and millet are considered. For each plant species, its taxonomy, importance and uses are listed. Its morphological characteristics are described, and the growth and development stages of the plants are mentioned in relation to the main factors affecting them. Finally, there is a series of questions at the end of each chapter intended to help the reader acquire a better understanding and consolidation of the guide’s contents.
