Description:
Abstract:
The purpose of the book is to assist, mostly undergraduate, students, with issues arising in choosing and conducting statistical analyses using two statistical software, SPSS, and EVIEWS. The necessary theory is covered and a step-by-step guide on how to perform various statistical analyses is presented. The material covers, in a condensed way, introductory but fundamental principles and concepts of statistics that are useful for an undergraduate student. Starting with a short introduction, the book proceeds with a description of the aforementioned statistical software. Then, various statistical tools are briefly presented, both in theory, and how to apply them using statistical software. The range of the tools is quite diverse and addresses students who want to learn more about the field of statistics and econometrics. For instance, visualization of variables, parametric and non-parametric hypothesis testing (normality, correlation, dependence, means etc.) are presented. Emphasis is given in regression, simple and multiple, while more advanced techniques are mentioned, such as logistic regression and discriminant analysis. To facilitate the acquaintance of students with the English terminology an English-Greek dictionary of statistical terms lies at the end of the book.
