Abstract:
Physical and chemical absorption are considered and appropriate solvents for the most popular cases are introduced. A variety of simple contact equipment is discussed and set in perspective to the counter-current packed column, the prototype of continuous contact of the two phases. The design of an absorption column is presented in detail, and its hydraulic characteristics are analyzed.
