Abstract: |
Home economics and development is the study of the family and the different types of family over time and depending on the needs and requirements of society, there are more than one family model. Family is a social group that is characterized by a dynamic development both in its form and in its content. Family is directly influenced by socio-economic changes and by the values and needs over time in specific societies. Family can be described as "urban" or "rural", depending on the area in which it lives, and as "nuclear" or "extended", depending on the people who live in the same house and share household chores. The study of marital status and the changes that occur at different times and places are a very important issue for anthropologists, ethnologists, sociologists, economists, and other researchers around the world. Furthermore, "home economics and development" is a course with important practical implications. It can contribute to social critique and practical social reform in a variety of ways. Initially, an improved understanding of a given set of socioeconomic conditions often gives everyone a better chance of controlling them. It also provides the means to raise cultural awareness and awareness of different cultural values. It can also explore the consequences (intentional or not) of adopting specific policy programs. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, it offers groups and individuals an increased opportunity to change their living conditions.
