This chapter presents the process of understanding the emergence of literacy and its components. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding emergent literacy as a social act. At the same time, the macro-procedures, the development of the child's ability for inferences and the role of the narrative structure are presented in the preschool child. The chapter with a presentation of the main models highlighted by the scientific research on the components of literacy emergence.
