Description:
Abstract:
The concepts of Gibbs free energy and chemical potential are reviewed and used as criteria of phase equilibrium. The models of the ideal gas mixture and ideal solution are developed. Gibbs's phase rule is derived and applied to physical processes of interest. Vapor-liquid equilibrium (Raoults law and non-ideal corrections), gas absorption in liquid solvents (Henry’s law) and humid air equilibrium are analyzed in detail.
