Abstract:
This chapter examines the educational tools used in museum education and it comprises of a wide range of educational material aimed mainly at teachers and students, but also at children and their families visiting museums on their own. The educational tools are categorised in this analysis according to the place(s) where they are intended to be used. The first category examines materials used in the museum, mainly in the form of sheets/ resources that support the discovery learning in the exhibitions. The second category includes educational tools for use outside the museum premises in the form of movable, loanable materials such as museum kits. The third category includes information material in the form of resource folders for educators or museum booklets for children that support educational approaches both inside and outside museum spaces, at school or at home. The analysis of the various categories focuses on the target groups and scenarios of use, while issues related to pedagogical objectives and their form are considered.
