Abstract:
The chapter explores the impact of museum space on learning, considering the morphological and functional elements of the building, the spatial arrangement of exhibitions, the link between exhibits and the building, and specific museographical decisions. The underlined points are influenced by educational theory, as well as theoretical frameworks related to space syntax, phenomenology, and the agency of learning spaces. All of the aforementioned factors are interconnected with alternative educational methods in both open and enclosed museum environments. An analysis of the spatial aspect of museum education is conducted within a historical context, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of its development in conjunction with the progress of museums and education. Therefore, we can develop future strategies for interventions in existing museum settings or the creation of new museum spaces, both physical and digital.
