Abstract:
The chapter focuses on museum programmes for families, children and adult visitors offering an in-depth discussion of the resources and the methods used in each case. Furthermore, it discusses the concepts of “lifelong learning” and “free-choice learning” which are central adult learning in museums. The chapter underlines the diverse traits, motives and choices of families, children and adults regarding learning and highlights the need for systematic and targeted research in order to better understand how different audiences experience learning in museums.
