Abstract:
This section chapter analyses methods used in museum educational practice. More specifically it discusses narration and its application in guided tours and storytelling; questions and answers (the Socratic method) in educational tours; discussions and expert demonstrations; the discovery method in exploration games; and specially designed museum spaces (family/children rooms). The analysis then focuses on the experiential-creative methods that are characteristic of museum education, as they put into practice the pedagogical intentions of active participation, experience and creativity. These include aesthetic creative activities such as painting, drawing, ect., performance such as theatre, dance and music, as well as creative writing. Finally, practical aspects of museum education are presented, such as, target audiences, spatial requirements, educational objectives and communication processes.
