Abstract: |
In this chapter we study finite difference methods for elliptic problems in two dimensions. The method will be formulated in simple partitions on a rectangular domain. The solution can be obtained by solving a corresponding linear system. We show that the matrix of this corresponding linear system has properties which allow us the use of efficient methods of Numerical Linear Algebra to solve it. We further show error estimates for this method.
