Abstract:
The influence of electric and magnetic fields on individual liquid crystal molecules and a large number of molecules that compose the liquid crystal materials for applications are presented. Then, the structural deformations in the nematic and chiral nematic liquid crystals, the dielectric effects with the applied techniques for their orientation on surfaces and in combination with the influence of fields, in order to construct liquid crystal cells (LCDs) are indicated. Finally, some innovative applications based on the change of cholesteric mesophase by the influence of the fields are presented.
