Abstract:
Basic principles and properties of light, the interaction of visible and polarized light with liquid crystals are developed in this chapter. The modes of propagation and reflection of light are examined, as it passes through the different phases of thermotropic liquid crystals. Finally, a brief review is given for the viscosity of thermotropic liquid crystals.
