This chapter presents the present-day rivals schools of thought (paradigms) in International Relations theory. The emphasis is on their main claims and main representatives: realism and neorealism and other variants, liberalism (or pluralism) and other variants, structuralism, post-positivism (mainly critical theory, post-modernism, normative approaches) and constructivism.
