This chapter starts with ten ideas that appeared from the Renaissance until the early 20th century regarding ways to organize the world and address its many difficult problems involving more than two states. Then inter-state (intergovernmental) organizations are presented, especially those of a general character which are universal, such as the League of Nations and the United Nations. This chapter concludes with the concepts and theories of world governance.
