Abstract: |
The book is clearly interdisciplinary in nature and is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students in political science, sociology, geography, anthropology, and spatial development who wish to gain a comprehensive understanding of alternative economic and political spaces, who wish to acquire a comprehensive understanding of alternative economic and political spaces. The book aims to introduce the reader to a contemporary and innovative scientific debate that has flourished over the last two decades. To achieve this, it operates on different levels. First, it aims to familiarize the reader with the most important forms of alternative economic and political spaces, such as cooperatives, alternative exchange networks, and alternative food networks. It then briefly examines the classical approaches, focusing on those points that reappear in contemporary theoretical debate. One of the main objectives of the book is to inform the reader about the epistemological, methodological, theoretical, and conceptual elements contributed by contemporary theoretical approaches to alternative spaces, such as those of diverse economies, the heterogeneity of economic and political spaces, and cracks. The role of the state in the emergence of alternative forms of economy, the connection between alternative economic and political spaces and social movements, and the role of alternative economies in spatial development are examined separately. The book concludes by highlighting the still "unexplored" issues and dimensions of alternative economic and political spaces. The book includes all the necessary material for understanding the different forms of alternative spaces, the different theoretical approaches and the relationship between alternative economic and political spaces and the political, social, and economic environment, as well as tools for their design.
