Description:
Abstract:
The book aims to become a tool for undergraduate and postgraduate students at the School of Rural and Surveying Engineers (NTUA) for urban planning practices. It focuses on describing the methods and tools in planning a city in a comprehensive and interactive way. The book has a 'handbook' approach in order for the reader to understand the various planning levels, the procedures and stages of planning studies, the many institutional bodies responsible for each development stage as well as their competences. Meanwhile the analysis is extensive in terms of reporting the current institutional framework required for the implementation of each planning procedure (at the urban level) and there is a short review regarding the historical background that shaped the current urban environment. Various factors that determine the planning processes are also considered, such as socio-economical, demographical, morphological, climate features etc.
