Description:
Abstract:
Twelfth chapter describes the basic properties of trace elements and their necessity of their quantification in biological fluids. The variant techniques of atomic absorption as a reference method will be presented: the acetylene-air flame and the graphite furnace. The theoretical principles of the method and the technological aspects of atomic absorption spectrophotometers will be described. The preanalytical and analytical procedure will be developed and data on the sensitivity and accuracy of these methods will be given. Furthermore, the method of calculation of the results will be explained with examples and reference values will be given. Finally, the necessary specifications for a safe gas installation of atomic absorption spectrophotometers will be presented.
