Description:
Abstract:
From the first invention of the automatic analyser by Leonard Skeggs to today's ultra-automatic modular systems and from the simple photometers of the 1950s to the microchips of today, many decades have passed. Seventh chapter will describe the historical path of the most important patents that have marked the evolution of automatic analytical systems. Emphasis will be placed on modern analytical systems (platforms combining chromatometric and immunochemical techniques), microarrays, laboratory information systems and future trends (biosensors).
