Description:
Abstract:
The main task of every analyst in clinical laboratory is, among others, to check the quality of the results he or she produces. Quality control requires a lot of knowledge of statistics, which varies depending on the kind of analyses (quantitative, semi-quantitative, qualitative). Eleventh chapter focus on the quality control of quantitative analyses, which constitute the majority in clinical laboratories. The types of errors and mistakes made in laboratories will also be mentioned and categorized into their subcategories. In particular, analytical errors will be analyzed in relation to the lack of accuracy and precision they cause and the mathematical ways of calculating both will be described. Internal and external quality control schemes which are used respectively to calculate the lack of repeatability (or reproducibility) and accuracy of the analytical method will be described in detail.
