Description:
Abstract:
This chapter examines the concept of the translation unit, which is the text, in relation to its cultural and textual context. Using specific texts, their position within the author's work, in the era and in the language-culture is examined, and then their recontextualization in the context of the host system is studied. Next, the text is examined as a whole, its characteristics as a genre and style, and its peculiarities as reflected in discourse analysis. Finally, intertextuality and its rendering are examined, both in specific cases, such as ancient Greek references, and in overt or covert references.
