Abstract:
Mummified human remains constitute a unique research area. This chapter presents the various forms of mummification, (e.g. anthropogenic and natural), along with the circumstances that cause or facilitate tissue mummification, the suitable non-destructive research techniques, the geographical distribution of the mummified remains, and some cultural aspects primarily connected to anthropogenic mummification.
