Abstract: |
The convergence of computing and communication systems is the basis for today's technological developments, offering new opportunities for social and business development, but also the need for both individual and collective protection and information. This book aims to introduce the reader to the basic principles of information technology and communications, referring to each level separately. This is followed by a description of the technologies and applications in the private and public environment that utilize information and communication systems. The content is rounded off with an analysis of security and privacy issues and the social impact of these technologies. The book is aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as the wider reading public who wish to gain an introductory but comprehensive overview of the subject. The authors' experience covers the topics covered in the book and is largely based on material they have already collected through many hours of teaching. The aim is to use new presentation and interactive technologies to engage the reader, so that the book becomes a living web of teaching and learning.
