Abstract:
In this chapter we will study the concepts, hardware, media and applications that make up what we call Augmented Reality (AR). With the term AR we refer to computer applications which integrate -through computational means- artificial objects (images and sounds) into the real world so that the end-user has an enhanced experience. This chapter will describe main concepts of AR, hardware and software requirements, kinds of content materials and interface elements which allow users to manipulate AR applications. Application domains will be presented, along with some implementation examples.
