Description:
Abstract:
This textbook describes the general principles of pharmacology (the mechanism of action of drugs, the fate of drugs within the body, and their interaction with the basic mechanisms governing the homeostasis of cellular functions). Drugs are not examined as therapeutic medical agents but from the perspective of basic medical sciences, with particular emphasis on understanding the biochemical and molecular processes involved in their action. The textbook provides a modern and solid foundation for further understanding of the properties of drugs, which is useful and necessary for anyone involved in the theoretical or practical aspects of Pharmacology and Biological Sciences in general. At the same time, it provides useful introductory knowledge for Medical Pharmacology, i.e., the therapeutic applications of drugs in clinical practice.
