Abstract:
In this chapter, the role of microbes in the etiology of caries will be described. It will be analyzed and described which microorganisms have been blamed for the initiation and progression of caries as well as by which mechanisms they participate in the establishment and progression of the carious disease. Particular reference will be made to the mechanisms of attachment of these microbes to hard dental tissues and the modern point of view of the ecological view of microbes for the development of caries lesions will be analyzed. The structure of the chapter will be done with texts, images and interactive figures.
