Description:
Abstract:
The book "Arts and Architecture from the Renaissance to the 21st Century" aims to familiarize students with architecture and art in general, explore the social and cultural causes that contributed to their production, and encourage critical thinking about the works and the values they embody. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding the arts through their history, i.e., critically examining the theoretical issues underlying the works and commenting on them as vehicles of the artistic process. The characteristic features of each period, the basic attributes of the art on different periods or even different movements precede the presentation of the works and the particularities of each section. Each chapter concludes with a description and analysis of works, which are proposed as a summary of each section but also as an opportunity for discussion and collective reflection. A significant part of the book refers to and compares the corresponding expressions of the arts in Greece.
