| Abstract: |
This chapter begins by explaining the reasons why the three authors conducted qualitative research aimed at exploring the four types of discourse in the teacher-student communicative relationship. It then describes the main findings of the research, which led to the initial idea and development of the innovative Co.M.P.A.S.S. approach. The chapter continues with recommendations for training musicians in this approach, including the necessary supervision process, and concludes with a record and description of qualitative research with musicians who attended Community Music Therapy performances with individuals with disabilities and/or had some initial level of music therapy training. These musicians reported significant changes in their relationship with disability as well as with their own music practice.
