Abstract: |
This chapter opens with examples from the primary author’s personal piano teaching experience, directly influenced by her training in music therapy. It explores the challenges and sources of inspiration that led to the need for an innovative approach to piano teaching, which can also be applied to other musical instruments. Due to references to traumatic experiences within the learning process, there is a brief discussion of trauma in relation to music therapy. This is followed by an overview of the humanistic theoretical background, which serves as the foundation and main source of inspiration for the author. This perspective focuses on the teacher-student relationship and their connection to music in terms of identity, as well as the quality of communication at the developmental stages of the learning process.
