This chapter presents the evolution over time of the methodologies used for managing water supply networks. It provides a detailed presentation of the Water Balance, which has been developed to assess the performance level of the networks, as well as the various modifications made to it in order to address specific conditions. Examples of the application of the water balance are also provided.
