Abstract: |
This document refers to the principles governing the development and operation of the Primary Health Care (PHC) team, such as cooperation between health professionals in the PHC team, the patient-centered/user-centered approach, the provision of quality care and services, adequate access to services, trust and respect among professionals, and effective communication. The composition of the team is crucial to meeting the needs of the population. Despite its positive results, the functioning of the team is often undermined by factors such as the absence of specific goals and objectives, the lack of definition and recognition of the roles of members, the lack of genuine respect for the roles of other professionals, and the lack of sufficient time for teamwork. Reference is also made to the necessary conditions for its effective functioning, such as interdisciplinary training, organizational, operational, and financial support, and effective leadership.
