Description:
Abstract:
This chapter aims to present different ways of using Educational Internet Environments (EIEs) from various perspectives (institutional, teacher-centered, learner-centered, and under various pedagogical approaches). Good practices of integrating Web 2.0 tools and specifically social networking tools (such as blogs, wikis, etc.) to support EIEs are presented. Due to the wide variety and abundance of platforms supporting EIEs, the need for an effective methodology for selecting EIEs is imperative. This chapter provides an overview of EIE selection processes and presents specific examples. Finally, a framework for designing and implementing EIEs based on software technology methodologies and UML is presented. The presentation is accompanied by application examples and the presentation of pedagogical designs with use cases.
