Description:
Abstract:
The subject of this chapter is the creation and manipulation of synthetic characters (or NPCs, as they are called in OpenSimulator) through the LSL/OSSL language. Examples are given of the introduction of an NPC into the world and the basic actions it can perform in the environment: speaking, performing predefined animations, walking or flying in a certain direction, changing orientation, sitting, interacting with objects, etc. Useful techniques and code examples for using NPCs in complex scenarios, such as moving along a predefined path, following another moving character or object, etc. are presented below. Finally, examples and scenarios of coordinated or free crowd movement are presented.
