Abstract: |
The growth of research in biomedical and biotechnological fields doesn't always align with the innovations and ethical considerations in bioethics, despite being a crucial aspect of their study and analysis. We frequently overlook the need for philosophical contemplation on various ethical dilemmas, including their methodologies and possible uses. Thus, this book is written for undergraduate and graduate students in life sciences, as well as those pursuing studies in philosophy and the broader social sciences. Its goal is to introduce students to the core challenges in bioethics, encouraging them to engage in critical analysis of the ethical issues within this applied discipline. These issues gain significant importance due to their potential impact on the biological substance of individuals. Firstly, a clarification is made of the fundamental concepts that constitute its core as well as its related areas. Following an introduction to the concept of “ethics”, the book will examine the specific areas of “bioethics”, exploring topics such as eugenics, euthanasia, cloning, abortion, and assisted reproductive cloning as therapeutic. Additionally, the social and legal aspects of these topics will be discussed. However, it's more engaging and valuable to critically reflect on and explore these issues rather than merely addressing them in a detached manner.
