Description:
Abstract:
The healthcare sector is the one that both drives and adopts innovations and developments at the forefront. The advancement of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is significantly impacting this sensitive domain of health. Various alternative solutions and available applications are being introduced, each with its own distinctive features. The ultimate goal is to leverage ICT to provide optimal healthcare services that are safe, quality-enhancing, cost-reducing, and tailored to the specific needs of the end users. Reducing medical errors, addressing gaps in expertise and specialized medical opinion, and enabling timely diagnosis are also among the core objectives of their implementation. Despite the promising technologies and the benefits associated with their use, international experience to date shows that there are still significant challenges in integrating these tools into everyday clinical practice.
