Abstract:
DVB-S is a family of communication protocols used in satellite communications. This chapter deals with this protocol, as well as with its alternatives. These standards are briefly analyzed at the physical layer, at the data link level (MAC layer) and at the network/IP level. Detailed examples of service transmission over these protocols are given and performance for different types of services is studied.
