Description:
Abstract:
This chapter discusses techniques that allow stations on the same network to exchange information over the same communication channel. Routing and multiple access schemes, which are used in satellite communication systems, are analyzed. Such schemes are FDMA, Spread Spectrum/CDMA and TDMA. Also, the simpler case of SCPC transmission is analyzed, followed by MCPC. In these configurations, the effects of non-linear effects, power distribution, synchronization issues, carrier recovery, and interference are analyzed. Finally, the multiple access techniques are concluded with the description of DAMA. Next, the random access technique (ALOHA), used in new generation satellite systems, is analyzed.
