Each protein, depending on its unique physicochemical profile, may have specific requirements when removed from its normal biological environment and subjected to biochemical analysis. If these requirements are not met, the protein may lose its ability to perform specific functions. Thus, determining these requirements is often a major hurdle for the analysis and characterization of proteins. In some cases, the difficulty lies in stabilizing the protein against external proteolysis, while in others, the challenge is maintaining binding or enzymatic activity. In every case, the analysis and handling environment, proper preparation and maintenance of appropriate processing solutions, and the choice of analytical methods significantly influence the successful outcome of each protein analysis and identification experiment.
