Description:
Abstract:
The Extend environment, one of the most popular tools for simulating discrete (and continuous) systems, is presented. Alternatively, an approach with an open source tool (e.g. JaamSim) will also be presented. Basic functional features are described to enable the presentation of case studies that include all the concepts and techniques of the previous chapters. Based on the examples and case analyses, basic modeling techniques with Extend are presented, such as: data collection and analysis, randomness and determinacy, animation, entity generation, attributes, priorities, mapping queues, mapping idle and active states, routing and flow of entities and values, time management, batching and un-batching, resource usage, documentation of results, etc. ά. Examples will also be given with an open source tool.
