Description:
Abstract:
In this chapter, the relationships between Greece and Africa are analyzed, which are largely limited. There are active Greek communities in business - mainly in South Africa, Sudan, Nigeria, Kenya, and Ethiopia. However, these communities now consist of second and third generation Greeks with significantly fewer familial and emotional ties to Greece. Additionally, the Patriarchate of Alexandria leads a fairly extensive network of metropolises and parishes on the continent. Concurrently, Greek business interests have a strong presence in the region, which has notably increased in recent years. Finally, the issue of migration flows from Africa to Greece is of particular significance. The chapter concludes by arguing that there are immense opportunities for the development of Greek-African relations with significant benefits for both sides. Africa is developing rapidly, while Greece seeks to increase its exports.
