Description:
Abstract:
This chapter analyzes the specific framework of the European Union's relations with Africa. The EU seeks to introduce a continental approach to its relations with Africa. The framework of these relations is defined by the Cotonou Agreement (2000) with the African, Caribbean, and Pacific Group of States (ACP), and the Joint EU-Africa Strategy (2007). For the latter, priority areas include promoting peace, security, and investments, addressing climate change, and managing migration. Broadly, the content of EU-Africa relations encompasses three areas: 1) trade, 2) development cooperation, and 3) political dialogue. The chapter meticulously examines all aspects of EU-Africa relations, with particular references to the differing perspectives among EU member states.
