Description:
Abstract:
In this chapter, the historical trajectory of Africa from 2001 to the present is analyzed. The continent has experienced high rates of economic growth, an increased presence of China, terrorism, migration, and climate change, which have elevated Africa's strategic importance and attracted international interest. The chapter critically examines all these factors in combination with the roles played by pressure groups in the West, such as the African diaspora, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), religious groups, celebrities, and others.
