Description:
Abstract:
The aim of the book is to familiarize students with Sub-Saharan Africa. With the exception of some countries in North Africa, the continent is largely terra incognita in Greece. During the Cold War, Africa was a field of competition between the two superpowers. Since the beginning of the 21st century, higher rates of economic growth, increased interest from China and a number of other factors (such as migration, armed conflict and environmental threats) have attracted global interest to the continent. In particular, relations with the European Union have been significantly strengthened in a number of areas. The study of Africa's international relations is particularly interesting because it involves state and non-state actors in an environment where regime survival is often the major concern.
