Description:
Abstract:
The concept of industrial ecology allows us to analyze the complexity of an industrial system and its relationships with the environment. It is an approach that can deliver concrete practical solutions to the question of “how the concept of sustainable development can be done functional, in a way that is at the same time financially viable?' The basic principle of industrial ecology is that the industrial activities should not be considered isolated, but as components of an industrial "ecosystem", operating internally of the natural ecological system. In this chapter concepts such as Industrial Ecosystem, Industrial Park, Industrial Area are presented and analyzed.
