Environmental Management System is a set of processes and practices that enable an organization to reduce its environmental impacts and increase its operating efficiency. In this chapter are presented the implementation motivations of businesses to adopt an EMS, the benefits and the application problems. The most widely used standard on which an EMS is based is International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001, while alternatives include the EMAS.
