Personalization and Recommendation Systems
Authors: Georgiadis, Christos
Reviewer: Giaglis, George
Description:
Abstract:
Recommendation and personalization technology involves the dynamic customization of content on the Internet (and elsewhere) to suit user preferences, based mainly on indirect information (e.g., purchasing behavior, product reviews, user profile and how it relates to other users' profiles and their reviews) derived from the user themselves, but also from other users. Using smart algorithms, they can tailor the information that will be displayed, while adhering to strict privacy rules. Specific issues: - Benefits (for businesses and customers) - Personalization categories (content-based techniques, collaborative filtering, hybrid approaches) - Evaluation of recommendation systems - Challenges (privacy issues, use of data from social networks) - Initial investigation of mobile recommendation systems.
