Description:
Abstract:
In this chapter, the variations and modifications that Propertius and Ovid introduce to the motif of the paraclausithyron are examined. The exclusion of the lover and his sleepless vigil during the night at the threshold of his beloved is a favorite theme in elegy. The analysis of each elegy is structured as follows: Introduction, Text, Vocabulary, Translation, Notes/Commentary.
