Description:
Abstract:
The various devices used in liquid-gas stream processes are primarily designed to ensure sufficient mass and heat transfer surface area in order to achieve the best possible result. Disc towers (outer casing, types of trays, diameter calculation parameters) and towers with packing materials are studied. A method for designing a tower with perforated trays is proposed, with conditions that ensure good gas-liquid flow (based on pressure drop). The efficiency of the trays, which also determines the height of the tower, is defined and calculated. The section on towers with packing materials analyzes the countercurrent of the liquid-gas stream through the packing material, with emphasis on flooding and loading, and pressure drop in single-phase and two-phase flow. The mass transfer coefficients in towers with packing materials are presented and the two categories of towers are compared.
