Description:
Abstract:
Having completed the analysis of all urban transport networks above, the aim of this chapter is to provide a comprehensive overview of them. First, the concept of connectivity and cooperation between all urban networks is presented, along with their correlation with factors such as land use, socioeconomic conditions, the natural environment, etc. Methodologies are described for calculating a combined level of service for all networks, both in an urban area and along a corridor, with the aim of optimizing transport services, improving accessibility, and minimizing environmental impacts. Emphasis is placed on the concepts of maximum system and user utility. Finally, the conditions that must be met by transfer areas between different modes of transport in order to be functional and promote combined transport are analyzed so that the urban transport system as a whole ensures sustainable mobility.
